We’ve all seen the gaming culture in action. We see people playing games on their phones. We see kids playing with controllers. We see people playing on their phones in front of a TV. We see people playing on their phones in cars. We see players getting up to play at their houses and we see them playing on the street. We see people playing at night on their phones while they sleep, as they’re trying to get a good night’s sleep.
Hyperthreading is a technique that lets apps run at a much higher frequency than normal. In a hyperthreaded environment, programs can run at a much faster rate than they normally would. This can be used to run faster graphics, run faster and more complex applications, or run faster access to a limited set of resources.
I think I have a good idea of what hyperthreading is. The game I’m playing at the moment, Hyperthread, is one in which the game-play is played by computer instead of a human player. It’s like a sort of game-of-life simulation, except the game is played entirely by computer.
Hyperthreading is also what makes hypergraphic gaming possible. The game’s developers, Hypergraphics, have designed it to run on a computer at much greater speeds than it can run on a traditional PC. I mean, if you look at how fast Intel processors are (CPU’s) compared to AMD processors, the gaming PC’s are much slower.
Hyperthreading is not available in the Xbox 360 version of the game. It’s being added as a later update.
Hyperthreading is being added to the upcoming X-Box 360 version of Deathloop, the first major game from Arkane, and a game that I can’t wait to play. I’m curious to see what people think about it, and if it makes anything better or worse.
It’s not a good idea to have a game that only uses four CPUs. You can’t have a game (or any other software or hardware) that only runs on four CPUs if you want to have any hope of being competitive. If you use four CPUs, you can’t have a game with enough power to run at the very top of the FPS chart. That’s why you see people using eight CPUs and even sixteen CPUs, but those are very rare.
The way software is programmed these days, hyperthreading is almost always off. That means that you can run a game with four CPUs and still have only a few hundred threads, but if you use more than four CPUs, then you are using more than four CPUs on a single processor. This means you won’t be able to use hyperthreading at all in games using four CPUs, unless you are using more than four CPUs in the game itself.
Hyperthreading on is a bit more complicated than on. A hyperthread is a CPU with four “execution units”. One of the execution units is the “hyperthread” CPU which can have 64 threads. (This is a little confusing because 64 is 32×64, but 64 and 64×64 are very close.) The other execution unit is the “core” CPU.
hyperthreading is on in most games. You can switch it off as well, but it makes the game faster. It is especially useful in games like Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty 4, where you need much more CPU power than you would from hyperthreading. Hyperthreading actually improves the performance of the game overall because it reduces the number of threads needed to run a given game.
